CriticalSPEE3D
Your critical parts, now made here.
CriticalSPEE3D is SPEE3D’s plan for 50 rapidly deployable advanced manufacturing factories across the Asia Pacific region, making critical metal parts close to the bases, mines, ports and plants that depend on them. The first, NodeZERO, launched Phase One in Darwin on 9 November 2026.

The problem
When one missing or failed part stops the whole operation
A gas plant, a mine, a port or a Defence base can run for months without a problem. Then one part fails, and everything waits.
When that part comes from overseas, the wait can run to months. Unplanned downtime costs the typical Australian industrial business on average A$350,000 an hour, according to ABB’s 2023 Value of Reliability survey.
Today’s fixes are stockpiling spares, airlifting parts, emergency machining or cannibalising other equipment. Each one is slow, costly or both.
The plan
Our plan: factories everywhere
Parts wait because they are made a long way from where they are needed. CriticalSPEE3D moves the making closer.
Small, easily reached factories, the size of a basketball court, close to every base, mine and port. Fifty to start, across the Asia Pacific region. The first is in Darwin.
Each factory makes critical metal parts at the point of consumption. CriticalSPEE3D will be run by SPEE3D as a service.

NodeZERO
NodeZERO: the first factory, in Darwin
NodeZERO launched Phase One in Darwin, in the Northern Territory, on 9 November 2026. It is a high-tech factory that will rapidly make critical metal parts for the naval and industrial facilities and Defence bases of Northern Australia.
NodeZERO is planned as the hub of CriticalSPEE3D, where people for every factory will come for training and induction.
That brings new kinds of technical roles to Darwin and the region, from advanced manufacturing operators and trainees to CNC machining, quality assurance and application engineering.
How it works
Dense metal parts, ready in hours rather than days or weeks
Every CriticalSPEE3D factory will include Cold Spray Manufacturing (CSM), a world leading process developed by SPEE3D.
CSM fires metal powder at up to three times the speed of sound. The particles bond on impact, with no melting, moulds or lasers. The result is a dense metal part, equivalent to a cast part, ready in hours rather than days or weeks. Heat treatment and machining finish it on site.
Now in its fifth generation, the technology has been used in 66 deployments worldwide and proven in combat, maritime, desert and arctic conditions. SPEE3D’s systems are trusted by six defence forces.
Parts that suit CSM: large, heavy-duty metal parts such as flanges, pump components and parts that suffer from corrosion.
Who it’s for
Built for operations that can’t wait on a part
- Industry: maritime, oil and gas, mining, utilities and infrastructure, where large assets run far from base and every hour of downtime costs.
- Defence: readiness and sustainment at the point of need, with parts made close to the bases and operating areas that depend on them.
- Primes, maintenance organisations and partners: work with us to bring local manufacturing to the assets you support.
How to engage
Bring us your problem part
NodeZERO Phase One is open now to a small group of founding members: operators who can bring their problem parts and help shape how the service works.
Tell us about the one part that, if it failed tomorrow, would stop your operation.

About SPEE3D
SPEE3D is a leading provider of expeditionary metal manufacturing technology and the pioneer of Cold Spray Manufacturing (CSM), a deployable approach to metal part production that builds components at high speed without melting. SPEE3D systems enable organisations to manufacture metal parts closer to the point of need, helping improve readiness, reduce supply chain risk, and support mission-critical operations. With operations in Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom, SPEE3D works with militaries and partners to make on-demand manufacturing a practical reality in the field. https://www.spee3d.com
