NEW PARTNER. NEW CONTINENT.

On July 17, 2024, we announced a new strategic partnership with Russelsmith—a leading integrated energy solutions provider focused on asset integrity management, oilfield management, smart manufacturing, and sustainable energy.
Not only has the Nigerian company become a regional partner, but it’s also become a value-added reseller for SPEE3D products—deploying, training, selling, and supporting customers in the region’s oil and gas, defence, and commercial industries.
The partnership represents a major milestone for Nigeria’s vibrant energy sector, which continues to struggle with supply chain issues and difficulties with procuring legacy parts for aging assets.
By manufacturing metal parts locally, Russelsmith will help industry leaders in the area significantly reduce operational downtime and related costs.
Tapping into the power of cold spray
Russelsmith has operated in Nigeria for well over a decade.
While inadequate infrastructure, frequent power outages, and unreliable grid connectivity have kept nearly 85 million of its citizens without access to electricity, a booming energy sector is now poised to reshape the country’s energy future.
Supporting solar energy conversion, building a skilled workforce, developing micro-hydropower capabilities—it’s all part of Nigeria’s plan to improve energy access and accelerate clean energy development.
To that end, SPEE3D’s Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing (CSAM)—which makes it possible to sustainably produce cast-equivalent metal parts on-site and on-demand—provides a critical resource for energy leaders working to pave an efficient, cost-effective path forward.
Progress at warp speed
As part of our agreement with Russelsmith, the company has purchased a WarpSPEE3D printer that will enable it to manufacture metal parts up to 40kg (88lbs) in hours versus days.
The world’s first large-format metal 3D printer to use CSAM, WarpSPEE3D allows users to print in aluminium, copper, aluminium bronze, and stainless steel—all at builds rates up to 100g/minute (3.5oz/minute).
Such capabilities are critical to ensuring Nigeria’s growing energy sector can operate effectively, confidently, and independently.
A bright future ahead
At the core of our partnership with Russelsmith is a mutual desire to promote the adoption of additive manufacturing technology in Africa—and throughout the world.
Through deliberate investments and strategic partnerships, both SPEE3D and Russelsmith are working to create a robust ecosystem capable of addressing the region’s major supply chain issues for the oil and gas, defense, and commercial industries.
We couldn’t be more excited to see what the future holds.
